The Role

This is not just a job. It is a vocation.

You will support people aged 65 and over to stay safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes. Every day is different. Every person is different. And the impact you have is real - you are not just filling a shift, you are genuinely improving someone's life.

We will be honest with you: this role is not for everyone. It is demanding, it requires you to think on your feet, and the people you care for are often vulnerable. But if you have the right values, we will give you everything you need to be brilliant at it.

What you'll do day to day

Personal care - bathing, dressing, grooming
Medication administration and collection
Meal and drink preparation
Laundry and home management to reduce falls
Emptying catheter bags and stoma bags
Toileting assistance and continence care
Manual handling - hoists and transfers
Pressure relief and skin integrity checks
Observing and reporting health concerns
Keeping homes safe and preventing loneliness
Monitoring health, intake and output
Liaising with other healthcare professionals

We need you to be honest with yourself

Sometimes a client might be on the floor. You need to be the calm, reassuring presence that takes control, keeps them safe and gets help quickly. This role requires excellent time-keeping, clear communication and the ability to act decisively when it matters.

We are not looking for perfection - we are looking for people with the right heart, the right attitude and the willingness to grow. If that sounds like you, we will do the rest.

What we need from you

A full driving licence and your own vehicle

Essential - our clients are spread across Morecambe and surrounding areas.

A caring, reliable and respectful approach

You will be in people's homes. Dignity and trust are non-negotiable.

Excellent time-keeping

Rotas are built around client visit windows. Being late affects real people.

Clear communication

You must be able to flag concerns to the office promptly and accurately.

A willingness to learn

Experience is great, but not essential. The right attitude is everything.

Mileage paid at 25p per mile - calculated on actual routes, not "as the crow flies"

Most clients are within a short radius of Morecambe. Real travel time between visits is paid.

Holiday pay is separate

Many care companies roll holiday pay into your hourly rate and call it 'inclusive'. We don't. Your rate is your rate. Annual leave is paid on top.

DBS reimbursed

Your enhanced DBS check cost is reimbursed in your first wage. You shouldn't have to pay to start a job.

Qualifications funded

We fund your Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification if you don't already have one. As you progress, we fund Level 3, specialist certifications and leadership qualifications too. Your development is our investment - not your expense.

Your Schedule

Your life. Your rota.

Tell us what works for you - childcare, hobbies, family commitments, whatever matters. We build your rota around it. Your pattern repeats on a 2-week rotation, so you always know what you are working. No surprises. No last-minute calls. No stress.

7am - 2pm

Morning shift

Approx. 6 hours

Finished by 2pm - the whole afternoon is yours

Shops are still open, appointments are easy to book

Pick the kids up from school with time to spare

Enjoy your evenings fully - dinner, hobbies, family time

2pm - 9pm

Afternoon shift

Approx. 6 hours

Have a proper lie-in - no alarm at 6am

Do the school run, hit the gym or run errands first

Shops are still open when you start - grab what you need

Perfect if mornings are for childcare or college

7am - 9pm

Full day

Approx. 12 hours

Pack all your hours into fewer days

More full days off to do what you love

Great if you want a 3 or 4 day working week

Build deeper relationships with the people you support

Even better? Mix them up.

An early shift followed by a late shift the next day means you finish at 2pm one day and don't start again until 2pm the next. That's a full 24 hours off in between - without even using a day off.

Or throw in a full day and pack 12 hours into one shift. That means more complete days off during the week to spend however you like.

We encourage a mix of shift types rather than all the same. It helps us match you with more service users - and it gives you the best work-life balance.

Weekend commitment: A minimum of 4 weekend shifts per fortnight is required (any mix of Saturdays and Sundays). We are honest about this upfront because it matters to us that you can genuinely commit.

The best job I have had!

I have worked with MoralCare for almost a year now and I say 'with' and not 'for' purely due to the level of support and teamwork I've received from management and other colleagues. Management are truly great, prioritising not just the needs of the service users but our wellbeing as carers too. I truly feel valued as a carer and whenever I've raised a concern it's been dealt with.

The Management are Unbelievable - very supportive

I have worked in care for 30 years and I must say Moral Care is the best company I have ever worked for. The Management are Unbelievable - very supportive, value and care for their staff. I only wish I had taken this direction a long time ago.

Job satisfaction at its best

I love working for Moral Care. The management used to be carers and still often work out in the community which is nice. The company really is a breath of fresh air. I have done community care work for over 20 years and this one is by far the best. Well done Moral Care, a business with Morals!

Select the shifts you can work across a two-week rota. Each half shift (7-2 or 2-9) is approximately 6 hours and counts as 1 shift. A full day (7-9) is approximately 12 hours and counts as 2 shifts. The weekly average is calculated by dividing total fortnightly hours by two.

Weekend requirement: A minimum of 4 weekend shifts per fortnight is required. Weekend shifts are any combination of Saturday and Sunday shifts. A full day (7am–9pm) on a weekend counts as 2 weekend shifts. Two half-shifts on the same weekend day (7-2 and 2-9) also count as 2 weekend shifts.

Example: Saturday 7-9 (full day) on week 1 = 2 weekend shifts. Add Sunday 7-2 on week 1 = 3 weekend shifts. Add Saturday 7-2 on week 2 = 4 weekend shifts. ✓

Tip: We encourage a mix of 7-2s, 2-9s and full days (7-9) rather than all the same shift type. This helps us match you with more service users.
